Roseanne Baxter – Occupational Therapist
Hello. I’m Roseanne. I am an Occupational Therapist based in Singleton, accredited Lymphoedema practitioner and owner of Encompass Therapy. My passion is supporting people to function better and live well.
My approach to intervention is an individualised, whole person approach that starts with listening: listening to you, the client to establish what are your goals and priorities for treatment. One of the biggest drivers for human behaviour is what motivates us and I try to tap into this with all my client interventions.
As an Occupational Therapist with over 20 years clinical experience, my approach to treatment encompasses many different strategies to assist in the management of a variety of conditions. I use a range of hands on treatment modalities as well as functional exercise and activity prescription to reduce pain, minimize complications and improve function.
How we function in our world is related to the “fit” between what we can do and what our environment asks us to do. Our activities and habits at work and at home can influence the onset of pain and can prevent resolution of pain if their impact is not properly identified. Analysis of posture and movement patterns along with task modification is often helpful to improve the “functional fit” of you to your lifestyle.
I have a special interest in working with people living with cancer and its after-effects. Cancer treatment often has lasting impacts on the body’s function and on participation in valued tasks and life roles long after the cancer treatment has finished. Pain, weakness, movement limitations, swelling, fatigue and “chemobrain” type symptoms such as problems with concentration, memory and problem solving are all challenges that can be experienced during and after cancer treatment. I will work with you to prioritise your goals for treatment to enable you to function better and live well.
